Are we even going to get an update ANet?
Have I just not noticed any form of update on the XTH issue or has there actually been no update at all? Obviously it was so badly broken they must be recoding the whole thing (funny how a new interface can completely ruin a whole system btw). Is it actually going to be up for the next tourney? Are you going to tell us in advance this time anet? Or again leave us guessing. Some awesome PR work going on round here. Have people stopped asking because they have given up on anet actually doing something? ANyone check the Live teams pages etc? Everyone must be on holidays over there!!
Any update on the next major update? thats supposed to be soon as well is it not?? no hints .. no teasers to even keep people interested? Hmmm maybe they are hoping people will go and play other games so the live team doesnt have to exist at all wouldnt that be convenient.....

You gonna get threadlocked for pointing out the obvious.
Also, no, nobody announces anything anymore for Guild Wars. Game's dead. Next update may be in August. Maybe not.
Give up hope. Go play something that's actually being maintained. Eat sno-cones for breakfast and ride your bicycle up interstate onramps in the wrong direction.

K here's the latest info I can find. 2 players asking or stating the following:
Person #1 "As weeks stretch into months, will players be compensated for the XTH downtime?"
and
Person #2

As to the OP's question, regarding compensation for downtime, I've passed along your question for consideration and they'll evaluate it.

Which doesn't answer the question. But that was posted on July 21st.

Anet secretly destroyed XTH because they realized it gave multiple-accounters unfair advantages over single-accounters. Now, they're just waiting 'til everyone forgets about it instead of announcing that it was removed in order to avoid angry qqs. Sneaky, sneaky Anet.
And I do think we'll get an update in August. Whether it's good or not... that's a different story. But, if they change Shadow Form (not nerf, but change funcionality) and 600 monks (NERF), I'll be happy.

wouldnt you like to think that maybe something that "was" in the game that had to be removed due to theyre own poor coding may actually take preference over putting other underprepared updates in the game??? or is that just foolish straight forward thinking? How about a "see we can fix our broken stuff!!" instead of "here you go guys see if this stuff is broken for us"....

If that is the case, then I would never believe any of their advertisements from now on because they dont deliver what they promise after taking our money.

Anet fail, the devs are too busy smoking pot and having GW2 parties in test servers to crash the economy before it comes, then they can't hit their update dartboard properly because they're all stoend and wasted. Thus nothing happens and they tell us to be patient whilst they 'fix' things, meanwhile NCsoft doesn't care because they're raking it in with all their P2P games.
Welcome to F2P games.

Please don't QQ about not getting free money. I would much rather have ANet work on GW2 than fixing XTH.

I agree with Pony. Although free cash once a month is awesome... besides, in my opinion, they realized that XTH is screwing the crap outta the economy so they stopped it. faked a crash... maybe they're waiting for zkeys to go up again or something.

I have noticed that zkeys have been increasing in price. While XTH was up, they were about 3.8k and dropping. Now, I see them for a consistant 4-4.1k.
Also, even if Anet didn't fake the crash, they should pretend they did. That way they don't have to fix anything and zkeys are worth something again. Win-win.

Yes.....yes, we have.

I made a big deal out of it at first...demanding to know something and all that shit, but after Regina's third update message basically saying, "We're working on it" I gave up. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they intend to keep it down forever.

it's been quiet for a long time. let's hope for the best (gw's fanbase is slowly carrying gw to its grave, while anet develop gw2). not the best pr move, as fans may spread the word of anet throwing games on the market and abandon them and the fans, but it's budget-friendly.
anyway, this is not meant to be a rant, just my guess on how things are evolving - nothing new, though.

On topic, I have also replied to my last response from support to see if I would get anything new. It is unfortunate that the updated XTH had to be taken down, and more than anything I think as a playerbase it just adds to the perception that the current game is a bit of a redheaded stepchild and the lack of a communication line between the game and it's community.
Either way, there should be an update coming in the next month or so (the every 3-4 months update) so we can hope it is lumped into that. All in all, it's a free to play game(not free totally) free to play.

Everyone, if you actually want a response from a dev you need to try to do several things:
1) stay on topic
2) stop the senseless and spam posts
3) stop rehashing the very same thread that's all ready on the front page of riverside (you know who you are)
4) contribute to the discussion (and by contribute I do not mean a witty one-liner)
p.s. slowerpoke, yes your reference to The Watchmen was funny. I did laugh.

trying to follow inde's guildlines.
I wouldnt hold your breath for a update on xth any time soon....and since thursday has passed (the 'usual' update day)....I doubt we will be seeing it back up this month. Probably not even as part of next months update either as it sounds like they dont have it as a top priority.
Yes the anet staff is 'busy' working on gw2....them may seem to forget they have a game that is currently live and that many may perceive this as a lack of caring about the community or such (the 'gee if this is the kind of action we get what will they do when gw2 is out' kind of thing).
I am a little discouraged about the lack of response from the CR's myself....you'd think that they would want to keep us in the loop HERE(and other forums) instead of some obscure insignificant note on some lost dev's page on a wiki that should NOT be used as a forum-----

We posted a couple of times that we will let you know when we have more information about this topic. Unfortunately, we don't have that, so the statement "We are working on it, we will let you know when we know more" still stands.
We understand that this is an issue that you are interested in and that you want an update, but I cannot see how reiterating the above statement on a daily basis will do anything to remedy the situation.
I know that this is not the answer you all were waiting for - unfortunately it is the only one I can give at this moment in time.

My contribution:
XTH should not be top priority. I'm pretty amazed people are so upset about it, what, we need more money?
cosyfiep there was no real news, so no reason for Regina to post her comments here.
EDIT
And Martin posted above me, so, yeah, anyway....

thanks martin....its nice to know that you are reading these.
How about an answer to this:
will the xth be part of the next update?
(whether that be the 'big' august update or another smaller one)
I know its hard to put a time line on stuff like this (my husband works in the computer field as well), but the mobs are getting a little restless here.....(as is evidenced by the amount of threads dealing with this same subject).

Actually, It was not really new interface that ruined it, XHT had similar problems or not giving proper amount of points and requiring devs actions to make it work since it was introduced.
New interface was just facelift with guts being the same like older version based on inside based on what I saw.
It's not that they broke it, they just finally got pissed off by XTH threads and started doing something about it...
---
As far as next "bigger" update is concerned, there were some vague claims that they will be more open about future changes but noone knows what that meant: Will there be PTR like feature with Test Crewe? More posts about current development?
Maybe this idea was simply silently abandoned?
However simple logic to reassure you about future of the game:
1) Linsey & Co. were not transfered to GW2 and they were not fired.
2) Anet will not pay them to sit in office and look bored.
3) Hence, they are doing something on GW1. And it will eventually be completed. And released for us to qq about.

the thing is he doesn't know or can't be sure of whether it will be part of the next update or a seperate one to come ealier...or even later. He'll just get a backlash from the community if it doesn't happen aswell if he gave a time
